What Are The Most Common Vein Conditions?

Vein issues can be unsightly or may even cause you to lose sleep or develop blood clots. Region Vein, PC, offers treatment options for many vein conditions. The treatments are tailored to your needs and may include radiofrequency ablation, sclerotherapy, or Varithena® ablation. We stay current with the latest innovations to ensure our patients can access the best treatments.

Common Vein Conditions

Some of the most common vein conditions we treat include:

  • Restless Leg Syndrome: This uncontrollable urge to move your legs may also present as a tingling, burning, or creeping sensation in your legs. The symptoms often worsen when you are resting or at night when you are trying to sleep.
  • Spider Veins: Telangiectasias, or spider veins, appear on the surface of the skin. They may be purple, red, or blue and are usually less than 2 mm in diameter. They are usually more visible than varicose veins since they are closer to the skin.
  • Chronic Venous Insufficiency (CVI) is when the blood has difficulty returning to the heart from your legs. It can cause the blood to pool in the veins, which causes inflammation and swelling. It can also cause blood clots.
  • Deep Vein Thrombosis (DVT): This is one or more blood clots in the femoral or popliteal veins, which are deep veins. The clots can interfere with or completely block your circulation and are a serious condition.
  • Swelling Ankles and Legs: Swelling in the legs and ankles can be caused by many things, including vein disease. If the veins in your legs are not working correctly, the blood could pool and cause swelling.
  • Varicose Veins: With this condition, your veins, usually in your legs, twist, swell, and become enlarged. This happens when the vein valves are damaged or weak. Varicose veins are “ropey” and can be blue or purple.
  • Thrombophlebitis: Thrombophlebitis develops when a blood clot causes a superficial vein to become inflamed. It is common in leg veins and can cause swelling, pain and redness.
